Op 25 februari steekt SUBWALK weer van wal met een nieuwe BACKYARD. Na de eerste 2 succesvolle edities is het ditmaal scheepsrecht. De illustratoren/ontwerpers HEDOF (Rick Berkelmans) en ZENK ONE (Robin Nas) zijn samen in zee gegaan en gooien hun ankers uit in Arnhem.

Ze hebben hun gedachten laten varen en zijn in de industriële scheepsvaart gedoken. De ruwe onderwerpen en nostalgische beeldtaal van traditionele tatoeages, affiches, vaandels, ankers en typografie, is de inspiratie voor de grootscheepse muurschildering die ze zullen vervaardigen in de BACKYARD.

Deze ruwe zeebonken laten ons kennismaken met het zware zeemansleven. Nee, niet het leventje van de Caribische piraten, lekker in het zonnetje vieze liedjes zingen, maar echt in de ijzige kou aan het werk op een vieze sleepboot. ‘We varen over koude wateren en moeten het ‘s avonds doen met een blikje spinazie.’

HEDOF en ZENK ONE zijn live aan het werk op 21 en 22 februari. De muurdoop is op 25 februari tussen 17u en 21u in de BACKYARD aan de Langstraat 20 in Arnhem.

Tijdens de opening zal er om een uur of zes een Artist Q&A zijn. Dit geeft je de gelegenheid om ze het hemd van het lijf te vragen! Hierna kun je spieren kweken onder het genot van een spinaziestampot en een pijpje bier.

Waai voordat je naar de haaien gaat nog even langs om poolshoogte te nemen! Hoezee!

ENGLISH VERSION

On februari 25th SUBWALK will kick off a new BACKYARD. After the first two succesful editions the third time is lucky. The illustrators/designers HEDOF (Rick Berkelmans) en ZENK ONE (Robin Nas) teamed up and anchored in Arnhem. 

They send their thoughts sailing and dove into the history of industrial shipping. The crude subjects and nostalgic imagery of traditional tattoos, posters, banners, anchors and typography, have been the inspiration for the massive mural that they will produce in the BACKYARD.

These rough sailors show us the harsh seafaring life. Nope, not the easy life the Caribean pirates live, enjoying the sun and singing dirty songs, but the real hard work on a dirty tug in the freezing cold. "We sail on the cold seas and live of no more than a can of spinach."

HEDOF and ZENK ONE will be working live on februari 21st and 22nd. The opening is on februari 25th between 17u and 21u in the BACKYARD at the Langstraat 20 in Arnhem.

During the opening at 6pm there will be an Artist Q&A. This gives you the opportunity to get to know about these tough guys after which you can grow your muscles while enjoying some spinach stew and a beer!
